2017/18 Budget consultation survey

Closed 30 Jan 2017

Opened 17 Jan 2017

Overview

Sheffield has less money to spend on services because Government are giving us less money in our budgets every year.  In the next financial year the funding we receive from central Government will reduce by a further £23 million.  In addition, the pressures we anticipate facing next year – from things like rising costs, changes to legislation and increased demand for services – are likely to increase this gap to around at least £40 million.  This is in addition to the £352 million already saved over the last 7 years.

We want to be able to deliver good services to you, and we’re always looking for ways to get better at what we’re doing.  We are working hard to become a more modern organisation and to make sure that we have the right staff and services in place to meet the needs of local people.  We are trying to make sure that we don’t waste time or money in the way that we do things, and that we deal with enquiries from the public as quickly and as well as we can.

We welcome your views on our approach to setting the council budget for 2017/18.
