Sheffield City Council Carer Survey 2021

Closed 27 Apr 2021

Opened 15 Mar 2021

Overview

Sheffield City Council wants to hear from people of any age who are unpaid carers for someone who lives in Sheffield. Caring is an incredibly important, rewarding and difficult role at any time. Over the last year, Coronavirus (COVID-19) has presented a significant new challenge.

This consultation is seeking your views as a carer both now and over the longer term. We would be very grateful if you could take the time to fill in the questions that follow.

Your responses will be anonymous. However, please do give us your details if you'd like some help and want to be contacted – for example, about an assessment of your needs as a carer.

Who is a carer?

A carer is someone of any age who looks after a person (a family member, partner or friend) who needs help because of illness, frailty, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction and cannot cope without their support. The care they give is unpaid.

Who is this survey for?

  • Young carers – a person under 18 who provides or intends to provide care for another person
  • Adult carers – a person aged over 18 who provides or intends to provide care for another adult
  • Parent carers – a person aged over 18 who provides or intends to provide care for a disabled child for whom the person has parental responsibility

Why we are consulting

This survey will help us understand your experiences, opinions and ideas so we can make things better for you in our city. It’s important for us to hear what you think and feel. You are the expert in your life, so we need to hear from you to make sure we get things right for carers.

Your feedback will help us improve services for young carers and adult carers all over Sheffield. New services for carers start in January 2022 and the information you give us will be used to improve what those services do.

It will also be really important for health services like hospitals and GPs, voluntary sector organisations and other partners who have signed up to the Young Carer, Parent and Adult Carer Strategy.
