Upper Don and Sheaf Flood Protection Consultation

Overview

We are committed to protecting Sheffield from flooding, following the devastating floods of 2007. 

This consultation focuses on the River Sheaf and Upper Don catchment areas.  

Flooding in these areas poses a significant risk to people, homes and businesses. Scientific evidence suggests that this risk will increase due to climate change. 

We need your views on how we can make sure Sheffield’s homes, communities and businesses are better protected from flooding. This will also help us to build new homes, encourage more businesses and jobs into the city and improve our beautiful rivers for more people to enjoy. 

We are asking for your views at a very early stage. We have registered for £83million of funding from the Government for our flood protection programme.

To make this programme a success, we need to consult with local people, develop detailed options and show the Environment Agency why the schemes are crucial to our city.
