Upper Don and Sheaf Flood Protection Consultation

Closed 11 Nov 2016

Opened 2 Nov 2016

Overview

We are committed to protecting Sheffield from flooding, following the devastating floods of 2007.

This consultation focuses on the River Sheaf and Upper Don catchment areas.

Flooding in these areas poses a significant risk to people, homes and businesses. Scientific evidence suggests that this risk will increase due to climate change.

We need your views on how we can make sure Sheffield’s homes, communities and businesses are better protected from flooding. This will also help us to build new homes, encourage more businesses and jobs into the city and improve our beautiful rivers for more people to enjoy.

We are asking for your views at a very early stage. We have registered for £83million of funding from the Government for our flood protection programme.

To make this programme a success, we need to consult with local people, develop detailed options and show the Environment Agency why the schemes are crucial to our city.

We are holding public events and talking to local groups and organisations. You can find out more and keep up to date by visiting our website at the link shown below.

We welcome your feedback on our options by the completion of this questionnaire.

Please read through the programme and consultation information at: www.floodprotectionsheffield.com before completing this questionnaire.

Please feel free to only complete those parts of the questionnaire that are of interest to you and we encourage additional comments to explain your views.

Why your views matter

Some of the flood defences we need to build will have an impact on your local area. We are proposing several different options and we would like your views to help us come to a decision about the best options for the whole city.
