Budget Consultation 2021/22

Closed 19 Jan 2021

Opened 22 Dec 2020

Overview

2020 has been a year that most of us will never forget. The Covid-19 pandemic has brought unprecedented changes to how we live our lives – how and when we can see our loved ones, how we go about our work, how we care for our most vulnerable people and how we enjoy ourselves and spend our free time.

In the face of the pandemic, Sheffielders have stood together to support each other, our communities and our local businesses. Public, private and voluntary, community and faith sector organisations have worked together tirelessly to look after people in every part of the city and keep vital services running every single day.

At the start of the pandemic, we made it clear that our focus was keeping people safe and well, protecting our most vulnerable people, helping people to get back to school and work, and supporting our economic recovery.

Your views on our proposals

This is one part of our approach to listening to what you think about our budget proposals for next year and to make sure we get a full picture of what Sheffielders think, we are also:

  • Working with service users, customers and clients about any specific changes to services
  • Discussing the budget proposals with representatives from the city’s voluntary, community and faith sector
  • Discussion the proposals with representatives of Sheffield businesses

We also undertake detailed Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs) on the budget overall and the specific proposals in the budget. EIAs help us to check if any of our proposals have a particular impact on any of our communities in Sheffield and set out any actions we will take to reduce negative impacts.

Our 2020-21 Budget Consultation runs from Tuesday 22nd December 2020 until Tuesday 19th January 2021.

All of the thoughts and views you provide will inform the final budget proposals which will be considered by Cabinet in February 2021 and then Full Council in March 2021.
