Consultation About Decaying / Structurally Compromised Tree Outside 42 Driver Street S13 (our reference 12040937)

Closed 30 Mar 2021

Opened 9 Mar 2021

Results expected 31 Mar 2021

Feedback expected 1 Apr 2021

Overview

A Prunus Kanzan (commonly known as a Cherry tree) has been identified outside 42 Driver Street as being decaying to a point that it has become structurally compromised.

An assessment carried out by our tree experts advises that the tree's root system is failing.

Ganoderma fruiting bodies were found at base.

The tree has developed a significant and progressive lean during the past couple of years

Once removed, we propose to replace the tree with a Magnolia Kobus tree on the same street, however will relocate it to outside 105 to avoid any future conflict with street lights and driveways

Why we are consulting

The Sheffield Tree Partnership have developed the draft Sheffield Street Tree Partnership Working Strategy.  This sets out our commitment to explain to local residents the reasons behind decisions to remove trees, and provide the opportunity to challenge these decisions through an open and transparent process.

A copy of the draft strategy is available at: https://www.wildsheffield.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/FINAL-Sheffield-Street-Tree-Partnership-Working-Strategy-July-2020.pdf
