Consultation About Dead Tree On St Marys Gate

Closed 14 Jun 2021

Opened 24 May 2021

Results expected 15 Jun 2021

Feedback expected 16 Jun 2021

Overview

A Sorbus aria (commonly known as a Whitebeam) has been identified in the central reservation of St Mary's Gate as being dead.

Following an assessment carried out by our tree experts a recommendation has been made to remove the tree.

Once removed, we propose to replace the tree with an Ostrya carpinifolia (Hop-Hornbeam).

This will be planted in the same place in the central reservation (opposite Liberty House)

Why we are consulting

The Sheffield Tree Partnership have developed the draft Sheffield Street Tree Partnership Working Strategy.  This sets out our commitment to explain to local residents the reasons behind decisions to remove trees, and provide the opportunity to challenge these decisions through an open and transparent process.

A copy of the draft strategy is available at: https://www.wildsheffield.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/FINAL-Sheffield-Street-Tree-Partnership-Working-Strategy-July-2020.pdf
