Consultation Dead Tree Outside 120 Dobcroft Road (our reference 12043044)

Closed 16 Aug 2021

Opened 26 Jul 2021

Feedback expected 18 Aug 2021

Results updated 8 Dec 2021

100% agreement with the fell
100% agreement with the replant location
66.6% disagreement with the replant species

The grounds for disagreement were that it was not an ornamental cherry (same as the tree being replaced) and that the species should be native

As such, the works were approved to proceed with comments sent to Amey that in light of consultation responses, the replant species should be changed to a Cornus mas to reflect resident desires for a native tree in keeping with the other Cherries in the area

Overview

A Prunus serrulata (commonly known as a Cherry tree) has been identified outside 120 Dobcroft Road as being dead.

Following an assessment carried out by our tree experts a recommendation has been made to remove the tree.

Once removed, we propose to replace the tree with a Cercis siliquastrum (Judas Tree) in the same location as the original tree.

Why your views matter

The Sheffield Tree Partnership have developed the draft Sheffield Street Tree Partnership Working Strategy.  This sets out our commitment to explain to local residents the reasons behind decisions to remove trees, and provide the opportunity to challenge these decisions through an open and transparent process.

A copy of the draft strategy is available at: https://www.wildsheffield.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/FINAL-Sheffield-Street-Tree-Partnership-Working-Strategy-July-2020.pdf
