Consultation About Decaying / Structurally Compromised Tree Opposite 340 Meadowhead S8 (our reference 12042155)

Closed 16 Apr 2021

Opened 26 Mar 2021

Results expected 22 Apr 2021

Feedback expected 23 Apr 2021

An Acer pseudoplatanus (commonly known as a Sycamore tree) has been identified for replacement opposite 340 Meadowhead as due to extensive decay of the wood at the base and being structurally unstable.

An assessment carried out by our tree experts advises that very little intact wood remains at the base and Armillaria fungi (Honey Fungus) were found to be present during previous inspection.

Further information on Armillaria fungi can be found at:

Once removed, we propose to replace the tree with a Carpinus betulus (Hornbeam) on the same street, however will relocate it to the centre of triangular verge opposite lighting column 48 (next to the slip road for the shops).

Why we are consulting

The Sheffield Tree Partnership have developed the draft Sheffield Street Tree Partnership Working Strategy.  This sets out our commitment to explain to local residents the reasons behind decisions to remove trees, and provide the opportunity to challenge these decisions through an open and transparent process.

A copy of the draft strategy is available at:
