A Prunus x hilleri spire (commonly known as a Cherry tree) has been identified on Abbey Lane in the Central Reservation outside number 230 as dying.
An assessment carried out by our tree experts identified that the tree is dying. The tree failed to establish, is not firm in the ground and is dying off.
Once removed, we propose to replace the tree with a Fagus sylvatica (Common beech tree), which will be located centrally in the verge, directly facing number 223 (similar to previous tree).
The Sheffield Tree Partnership have developed the Sheffield Street Tree Partnership Strategy. This sets out our commitment to explain to local residents the reasons behind decisions to remove trees, and provide the opportunity to challenge these decisions through an open and transparent process.
A copy of the strategy is available at: https://www.wildsheffield.com/getinvolved/sheffield-street-tree-partnership/street-tree-strategy/
