An Acer campestre (commonly known as a Maple tree) has been identified on Abbey Lane, outside number 69 as being Structurally Compromised.
An assessment carried out by our tree experts noticed that the tree is in poor structural condition with the stem having hollowed/decayed. Therefore, it is unsuitable for retention on a busy main road.
Once removed, we propose to replace the tree with an Ulmus 'New Horizon' (Elm tree), which will be planted centrally in the verge outside number 69, in the same location as the original tree.
The Sheffield Tree Partnership have developed the draft Sheffield Street Tree Partnership Working Strategy. This sets out our commitment to explain to local residents the reasons behind decisions to remove trees, and provide the opportunity to challenge these decisions through an open and transparent process.
A copy of the draft strategy is available at: https://www.wildsheffield.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/FINAL-Sheffield-Street-Tree-Partnership-Working-Strategy-July-2020.pdf
