Colley Park Play Facilities Consultation 2018

Closed 21 Dec 2018

Opened 26 Nov 2018

Feedback updated 25 Jun 2019

We asked

We asked you what you thought about the proposals for new play facilities in Colley Park

You said

25 people responded to the online survey with the majority supporting (voting very good or good) the proposals for the play equipment, mini bike and scooter track and parkour area. Seating and bins were important for respondents in all the areas proposed.

In the Parkour area, respondents favoured the steel and concrete parkour equipment. This was supported by consultation in secondary schools where pupils felt the steel and concrete equipment would be more robust and by consultation with the parkour community who felt the concrete and steel equipment was preferable when developing a parkour area.

We did

We have finalised the plans following feedback from the online survey, consultation with local schools and the parkour community. The improvements will be:

  • Play area for younger children (including toddler, junior, boat and basket swings, roundabout, multi-play unit and embankment slide,)
  • Mini bike and scooter track with bumps and line markings
  • Steel & Concrete Parkour Area
  • Seating and bins throughout all facilities
  • Repairs to the Multi Use Games Area
  • Resurfacing to car park
  • CCTV

The improvements are currently out to tender anticipated on site in October 2019. More information can be found in the Colley Park Play Facilities Consultation Feedback Report link

Overview

Sheffield City Council has some funding from the new housing development on the former Parson Cross College site. This funding is to make improvements to Colley Park and to provide play facilities in the area close to the new housing.

We carried out consultation in 2017 to develop a plan for improvements and as a result we are delivering two phases of improvements in Colley Park. Phase 1 is currently underway and will deliver boundary improvements, CCTV, demolition of old play facilities, new goals and new dual waste bins.

Phase 2 will deliver new play facilities for older and younger children in the park as well as improvements to the car park area.  Following work with local primary and secondary schools we have developed a more detailed plan for the new play facilities which we would now like to get feedback on from local people.

Please note - there are some pictures of  proposed plans in this survey which might not be visible if you are using 'Internet Explorer'.  We have found by changing your internet browser to Google Chrome you shouldn't have any difficulties. You can copy the link above into Google Chrome search bar and continue.

This questionnaire should take approximately 15 minutes to complete.

What happens next

We welcome and appreciate your feedback. Thank you for taking part in this survey.

Following the consultation the plan for the area will be updated depending on the comments we receive. The final plan will be shared locally and via the 'We Asked, You Said, We Did' section of the website.  It is anticipated that the new facilities will be installed during 2019.
