An Alnus glutinosa (commonly known as an Alder tree) has been identified outside the school, opposite number 171 as dying.
An assessment carried out by our tree experts identified that the tree was in advanced physiological decline. Therefore, the tree is dying.
Once removed, we propose to replace the tree with a Davidia involucrata (Pocket handkerchief tree) which will be planted across the road to the location of the original tree, in the verge outside number 169.
The Sheffield Tree Partnership have developed the Sheffield Street Tree Partnership Strategy. This sets out our commitment to explain to local residents the reasons behind decisions to remove trees, and provide the opportunity to challenge these decisions through an open and transparent process.
A copy of the strategy is available at: https://www.wildsheffield.com/getinvolved/sheffield-street-tree-partnership/street-tree-strategy/
