Replant suggestions from residents reflected the wishes for a Betula (Birch) to match the rest of the street

This tree was deferred to the Street Tree Partnership due to the high level of disagreement with the proposed replanting species.

The tree will be changed to be a Betula (Birch) spp. to match the rest of the street to take account of the feedback from consultees.

A Betula pendula (commonly known as a Birch Tree) has been identified outside 81 Marsh House Road as being structurally compromised.

An assessment carried out by our tree experts noticed that the tree has extensive decay at the main crown break at 1.8m, extending into the scaffolds and into the trunk. They noted that the stems are parting in wind meaning that the structural integrity of the tree has been severely compromised

Once removed, we propose to replace the tree with a Gleditsia triacanthos (Honey Locust) in the same location as the original tree.

Why your views matter

The Sheffield Tree Partnership have developed the draft Sheffield Street Tree Partnership Working Strategy.  This sets out our commitment to explain to local residents the reasons behind decisions to remove trees, and provide the opportunity to challenge these decisions through an open and transparent process.

A copy of the draft strategy is available at:
