Consultation About A Structurally Unstable Tree on May Road outside 2 (our reference 12044887)

Closed 29 Apr 2022

Opened 8 Apr 2022

Results expected 2 May 2022

Feedback expected 3 May 2022

A Prunus (commonly known as a Cherry Tree) has been identified outside 2 May Road as being structurally unstable.

An assessment carried out by our tree experts noticed that the tree had a worsening lean into the carraigeway, likely caused by root decay under the footway.

The tree is now presenting a significant obstruction and has potential to fail or strike a vehicle.

Once removed, we propose to replace the tree with a Betula emanii (Ermann Birch Tree) adjacent to the junction of Clarence Road

Why your views matter

The Sheffield Tree Partnership have developed the draft Sheffield Street Tree Partnership Working Strategy.  This sets out our commitment to explain to local residents the reasons behind decisions to remove trees, and provide the opportunity to challenge these decisions through an open and transparent process.

A copy of the draft strategy is available at:
