A Sorbus intermedia (commonly known as a Swedish Whitebeam) has been identified on Mount Street outside number 17 as dying.
An assessment carried out by our tree experts identified that the tree has significant loss of vitality. Bark is dying and splitting on the scaffold branches. Multiple Ganoderma fruiting bodies are present around the southern side of the trunk, which suggests advanced decay. Retaining the tree now is a significant risk.
Once removed, we propose to replace the tree with a Morus alba (White mulberry) in the centre of build outside number 17, close to the location of the original tree.
The Sheffield Tree Partnership have developed the Sheffield Street Tree Partnership Strategy. This sets out our commitment to explain to local residents the reasons behind decisions to remove trees, and provide the opportunity to challenge these decisions through an open and transparent process.
