A Sorbus aucuparia (commonly known as a Rowan tree) has been identified on Rodger Road outside 24 as dying.
An assessment carried out by our tree experts identified that the tree is in poor overall condition and is continuing to decline. The upper branches have failed previously, and this looks likely to reoccur. Areas of necrotic bark are developing too.
Once removed, we propose to replace the tree with a Syringa reticulata (Japanese tree lilac), outside numbers 24-26, close to the location of the original tree.
The Sheffield Tree Partnership have developed the Sheffield Street Tree Partnership Strategy. This sets out our commitment to explain to local residents the reasons behind decisions to remove trees, and provide the opportunity to challenge these decisions through an open and transparent process.
