Sheffield Sport and Leisure Strategy Public Consultation

Closed 6 Feb 2022

Opened 10 Jan 2022

Overview

THIS CONSULTATION IS NOW CLOSED

Sheffield has a proud history as a City of Sport and a fantastic reputation for working together to promote physical activity for all.

As a key stakeholder in Move More - Sheffield’s Physical Activity Strategy - Sheffield City Council is seeking to better understand how our sport and leisure assets and services can be re-shaped to help deliver the outcomes in the Move More Plan and the City's wider strategic priorities.  We know for example, that many of our sport and leisure facilities require investment and modernisation to better meet the needs of our communities and that it is easier to be active in some communities in Sheffield than in others. We want to address this inequality and ensure our indoor and outdoor facilities are modern, welcoming and inclusive and that our services create opportunities and encourage more people to be more active, more often in an equitable way.

This work to review and improve our sport and leisure assets in Sheffield, sits within a wider system that can help to make it easier for people living in Sheffield to be physically active. Findings from this work therefore connect to our Transport, Green & Open Spaces plans, our Health & Wellbeing strategy and our Youth Strategies. Together we can create a healthier, happier and more connected Sheffield.

What happens next

Thank you for everyone who had completed the Sport and Leisure Strategy Consultation survey.

Following the consultation, we will analyse the consultation data and use it to inform and shape the new Sport and Leisure Strategy for Sheffield. The consultation results will be shared via the 'We Asked, You Said, We Did' section of the website in early 2022.

We hope to publish a high-level strategy document in in May 2022 and we will then work with partners to develop an implementation plan for the Strategy.
